Reflections College seems to be a world where catch phrases and routine questions are "a-dime-a-dozen." My peers keep talking about the "real world" that lies just around the corner. Meanwhile, professors here keep pushing the importance of being liberally educated in becoming an "educated person." I would partially like to think I notice these things simply because I am an observant person, but I do not know if that is the entire case. I do also recall the fact that before I came to college my mom kept talking about the big saying when she went to a large university. Everyone there liked to ask, "Where do you see yourself in five years?" However, many things change for people when they come to college. Their whole lives are no longer written out for them and they must figure out important questions on their own. Therefore, it is good that these people encounter such questions. However, I do not feel that I have as much of a problem with creating answers to these questions as I have with being satisfied with any answer. It just seems like all of the big life choices fall short in effectiveness. I will keep trying to figure out the best path and hopefully I will be satisfied some day. |
