Dr. Liping Bu Liping Bu: Ph.D., Carnegie Mellon University, associate professor of history, teaches American foreign relations as well as American and modern Chinese and Japanese history. She has a broad interest in historical studies on international education, cultural diplomacy, missionaries, philanthropies, state and society, and gender roles, all of which have been subjects of her scholarly journal articles and professional conference papers. She is the co-editor of The Cultural Turn: Essays in the History of U.S. Foreign Relations (2001), and she has contributed chapters in other books. Her book, Making the World Like Us: Education, Cultural Expansion and Making the American Century, will be published in 2002. Dr. Bu has received several fellowships, including a National Endowment for the Humanities summer fellowship. ![]() |
