Major Requirements (60 credits)

1. Core: 24 credits including COM 101, 110 and 111; ENG 220; PHL 103; and either PHL 227, 228 or 229.

2. Concentration: 24 credits, eight of which must be numbered 300 or above, from one of the following:

COM 301; eight credits from COM 123, 220, 302, 380 (Health Communication) or other approved COM elective; eight credits from REL 108; WST 201; SOC 220, 241, 251, 301, 352, 353; or PSY 212, 231, 240; and four additional credits from the concentration or approved by the Department.

COM 302; eight credits from COM 220, 301, 303, 380 (Health Communication) or other approved COM elective; eight credits from BUS 201, 323, 333 or 401; ENG 200; MCS 131; ART 230; SOC 301, 326; POL 141, 341, 345; or PAF 180/380; four additional credits from the concentration or approved by the Department.

COM 303; eight credits from COM 220, 302, 327, 343, 380 (Health Communication) or other approved COM elective; four credits selected from ART 121, 224, 230 or MCS 131; four credits from BUS 401, ENG 200, 270, 370 or SOC 380 (Media: Impact and Society); four additional credits from the concentration or approved by the Department.

3. Capstone Series

12 credits of integrative seminars and internships, including COM 350, 385-386, and 450. Teaching majors in speech and theatre should consult with the Department to develop a concentration. Student teaching substitutes for COM 385-386.

Twenty-four credits must include COM 101, 110, 111, 350/450; either 220, 301, 302 or 303; and four additional COM credits. COM 220 is required for the Teaching Minor.
