Since this site is primarily designed to show how hypertext enhances traditional text, I recommend going directly to The Soliloquy. I have chosen this text because of the abundance of resources available in reference to it.

The Soliloquy Page

Column One - The Menu

This column is where a list of links will appear when the line number in the Row One is clicked. This list will contain links to all the analyses, images, and interextual links relevant to a specific word or passage, as well as links to the rest of the site.

Row One - The Soliloquy

This column contains the text of the soliloquy. The lines are numbered and separated for easy reference. Clicking on the line number will bring up a menu in column 1 where the user can link to various resources specifically dealing with that particular line of text or words therein. Passing the cursor over an underlined word will produce a "mousenote" - meant to replace the footnote - above it. These small notes are meant to enhance reading the text by providing the footnote without the reader having to ever leave the text or click a link.

Row Two - Various Resources

This column is where the images, analyses, and interetextual passages will appear when clicked from column one. This allows the reader to have the text of the soliloquy always in view, compare the notes to the text, and keep the menu at the left to allow further browsing without ever leaving the page
