New Media Studies

Program

This interdisciplinary minor in New Media Studies is designed to bring students into direct contact with the applications and implications of digital information and new communication technologies. Note: No more than four credits counted toward the New Media Studies minor may be used to satisfy requirements in a major or another minor

  1. NMS 210
  2. Twenty credits of electives, selected from: ART 224, 230, 232; BIO 380 (Digital Media in Scientific Research); COM 110, 303; CSC 114, 120, 335; MUS 201, 214, 215; NMS 280, NMS380, NMS385; other courses preapproved by NMS faculty committee. Note: electives must include courses from at least three departments in addition to NMS.
  3. NMS 499 (2-4 credits): Advanced independent study. Projects must be co-directed and involve at least one faculty member who teaches a course in the NMS minor.
    A maximum of 8 credits in NMS 385 and NMS 499 may be counted toward the minor
