¶Miserere mei deus secundum.
The L. A Psalme of David.

Have mercy upon me (o God) af-
ter thy goodnes, & accorgynge
unto thy great mercyes do a-
waye myne offences.
*Washe me wel fro my wycked-
nes, and clense me from my synne.
For I knowledge my fautes, & my
synne is ever before me.
Agaynst the onely, agaynst the have
I synned, and done evil in thy syght:
that thou myghtest be justyfyed in
thy sayinges, and shuldest overcome
whan thou art judged.
Behold, I was borne in wycked-
nesse, and in synne hath my mother con-
ceaved me.
But lo, thou hast a pleasure in the
truth, & hast shewed me secrete wis-
dom.
O reconcyle me with Isope, and
I shal be clene: washe thou me, & I
shal be whyter then snowe.
O let me heare of joye & gladnes &
the bones which thou hast broken, may
rejoyce.
Turne thy face from my synnes, &
put out al my mysdedes.
Make me a cleane hart (o god) &
renew a ryght spyrite wythin me.
Cast me not away from thy presence,
and take not thy holy spyrite from me.
O geve me the confort of thy help
agayne, and stablysh me with thy fre
spyryte.
Then shal I teache thy wayes un-
to the wycked, that synners maye be
converted unto the.
Delyver me from bloud gyltynes
o god, thou that arte the god of my
health, that my tongue may prayse thy
righteousnesse. Open my lyppes (O Lorde)
that my mouth may shewe thy prayse.
For if thou hadden pleasure in sacrifice, I
would geve it the: But thou
delyteste not in burnt offrynges.
The sacrifice of god is a troubled
sprite * a broken and contrite harte
(o god) shalt thou not despyse.
O be favourable and gracious un-
to Syon, that the walles of Jerusa-
lem may be buylded.
For then shalte thou bee pleased
* wyth the sacrifice of the righteous-
nes, wyth the burnt offerynges and
oblacyons: then shall thy liye bul-
lockes upon thyne aultare.
